(Press Release) SEG Announces Launch of New Brand, Redesigned Website
Posted on 14th June, 2016
LOGO AND TAGLINE CHANGE IS FIRST IN 18 YEARS
TULSA, Okla., 3 May 2016 — The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) today unveiled a new branding initiative designed to enhance the 86-year-old society’s tradition of excellence in providing technical, educational, and professional development resources to the global geophysics community.
“This important shift in SEG’s strategic initiative comes in response to a need to attract the emerging generation of geophysicists to sustain and continue to grow our Society,” said SEG Executive Director Dorsey Morrow. “We have not undergone a logo change in 18 years. The new brand signifies our focus on the future and our efforts to appeal to a wider audience as a relevant, innovative, and forward-thinking society committed to building membership, expanding programs, and, ultimately, providing superior offerings to the global geophysics community we serve.”
The branding initiative includes a new logo, tagline, creative look, and redesigned website. Featuring updated technology, responsive web design, and revamped navigation, the new website will provide a much-improved user experience and serve as SEG’s hub for resources, information, and networking for both members and nonmembers. Launch was scheduled for 3 May 2016.
The new tagline describes succinctly what the Society is doing: “Connecting the world of applied geophysics.”
“The leadership of SEG is focused on identifying ways to strengthen our position as a premier information resource to geophysicists around the world, as well as to situate ourselves to take advantage of new opportunities when the declined oil and gas industry rebounds,” said SEG President John Bradford. “This new branding campaign is an essential component of those efforts, and we look forward to its official launch in May.”
