The product of a collaboration between libraries and publishers, BioOne aggregates core scientific research in the biological, ecological, and environmental sciences. The collections provide access to a broad range of full-text articles in an intuitive, online database of more than 160 titles. 70% of BioOne titles are ISI-ranked, and almost half are available in electronic format exclusively on BioOne.
Founded in 1999 as a not-for-profit collaborative the organization was created to address inequities in scholarly publishing. BioOne explores economic models and strategic partnerships to balance the needs of all stakeholders — authors, nonprofit publishers, academic institutions, research libraries, and research funders — and maximize access to critical research.
